About the Role

As Manager, Security Operations Centre (SOC), you will lead our Australia-based SOC team within Group Cyber Security Operations. The SOC is a critical line of defence, responsible for detecting, investigating, containing and responding to cyber security threats that could impact our customers, systems and data.

This role combines people leadership, operational management and deep technical cyber security expertise. You'll lead a high-performing team of cyber security professionals, provide technical leadership during complex incidents, and work closely with global SOC colleagues across Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines to strengthen ANZ's cyber resilience and security operations capability.

What will your day look like?

As Manager, Security Operations Centre, you will:

• Lead, coach and develop a team of SOC analysts, creating a high-performing, inclusive and engaged culture.


• Manage workforce capacity, operational readiness and service delivery to ensure effective 24/7 security monitoring and incident response outcomes.


• Act as a senior escalation point for complex cyber security investigations and major security incidents.


• Coordinate technical response activities across cyber, technology and business stakeholders during security incidents.


• Drive threat detection, investigation, containment, remediation and recovery activities.


• Lead forensic investigations to determine root cause, attack path, business impact and extent of compromise.


• Partner with Threat Intelligence, Detection Engineering, Red Team and Security Engineering teams to continuously improve ANZ's security capabilities.


• Translate incident learnings into enhanced detections, hunting opportunities, automation and response playbooks.


• Support governance, reporting and communication of cyber security risks and incidents to senior stakeholders.


• Contribute to the ongoing maturity and evolution of ANZ's global Security Operations Centre capability.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

• Proven experience leading cyber security operations, incident response or similarly technical security teams.


• Strong people leadership capability, including performance management, coaching, career development and talent growth.


• Deep experience across cyber security operations, threat detection, incident response and digital forensics.


• Strong understanding of attacker tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), MITRE ATT&CK, cyber kill chain frameworks and incident response methodologies.


• Experience investigating security incidents using SIEM, EDR, identity, cloud, network and endpoint telemetry.


• Hands-on knowledge of technologies such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic, SOAR, threat intelligence and case management platforms.


• Demonstrated ability to make sound technical and risk-based decisions during high-pressure cyber security events.


• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.


• Experience mentoring analysts and uplifting security operations capability within large and complex environments.


• Tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.


• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GNFA, CEH or CCSP will be highly regarded.
