Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Modern Workplace Engineer to play a key role in designing, managing, and enhancing our Microsoft 365 environment. This role is responsible for ensuring SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and other M365 applications are structured, governed, and optimised to support secure, efficient, and standardised collaboration across the organisation. With a strong focus on user enablement, you will drive adoption through training, best practice guidance, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximise the value of our Microsoft ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain SharePoint information architecture, including site structures, libraries, metadata, and navigation
  • Establish and manage consistent naming conventions, permission models, and site provisioning processes
  • Configure and support Microsoft Teams and M365 Groups aligned with business needs and best practices
  • Develop automation solutions using Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) to improve business processes and efficiency
  • Provide user support, training, and resources to drive adoption and effective use of M365 tools
  • Manage platform administration across SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and related services, including monitoring performance and usage
  • Ensure governance, security, and compliance standards are met, including data protection and collaboration with the cybersecurity team
  • Drive continuous improvement by analysing usage metrics, optimising licensing, and staying up to date with Microsoft 365 enhancements

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Relevant industry certifications:
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102) (required)
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102) (required)
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300) (required)
    • Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator (SC-900) (desirable)
    • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900) (desirable)
    • ITIL Foundation certification (desirable)
  • Minimum  4+ years experience in a similar role
  • Deep technical expertise in SharePoint Online and Onedrive
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 Groups administration
  • Experience with user provisioning, permission models, and identity/access management within M365
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance, retention, and DLP policies
  • Stakeholder and business communication to drive business outcomes
  • Use of Purview to maintain governance and compliance controls
  • Exceptional attention-to-detail and record keeping ability
  • Able to recognise trends and identify conflicting / incorrect data and communicate this clearly and effectively
  • Proven ability to deliver training and provide documentation and training material
  • Great interpersonal and Communication skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
