Job Description - Nuclear Medicine Technologist Grade 1 or 2

  • Permanent full time role as a Grade 1 or Grade 2 Nuclear Medicine Technologist

  • Current final year undergraduates, who will qualify in 2026, are warmly encouraged to apply for the Grade 1 position

  • Austin Hospital, Heidelberg location

  • Base salary + salary packaging + super + ADO’s

About the Molecular Imaging and Therapy Department


The Molecular Imaging and Therapy Department operates at both the Austin and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospitals and has four core service components, Nuclear Medicine imaging, Radionuclide therapy, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and Bone Densitometry.


 


About the role 


As a Technologist in Nuclear Medicine, PET, and BMD, you will provide diagnostic imaging, radionuclide therapy and laboratory services to patients while optimising patient care at all times and practicing safe administration of radioactivity in a clinical setting.


 


You will also play a significant role in the department’s Oncology and Neuroscience program. There are possible opportunities to train in PACS administration and contribute to the Quality Management Framework within the department.


 


A regular day will see you:   



  • Laboratory work including radiopharmaceutical preparation, haematological and radioimmunoassay

  • Participation in the provision of clinical Nuclear Medicine, PET scans, and BMD scans, including imaging patients in radiation therapy planning position 

  • Oncology and Neurology research scans

  • Therapeutic procedures


 


About you 


You will be someone who enjoys continuing professional development, undertaking project work and participating in professional conferences, seminars and workshops. You’ll have excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to be flexible in your approach to work.  


 


To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:



  • A Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Radiations) in Nuclear Medicine Technology or accepted equivalent

  • Accreditation by the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine

  • Registration with AHPRA as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist

  • A current and valid Use Licence issued by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services
