The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Operations Capability & Development Specialist to support the design, governance and continuous improvement of operational training, development and workforce capability across Fremantle Ports. Reporting to the Manager Operations Development, this role plays a key part in establishing and maintaining structured frameworks, systems and processes that enable operational training to be delivered safely, efficiently and consistently.

Working closely with operational leaders, trainers and key stakeholders, you will identify capability needs, coordinate training delivery, analyse performance data and drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen operational performance and compliance outcomes. 

Your Day-to-Day Impact

• Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives across operational training and development programs.
• Coordinate and schedule operational and corporate training to meet business and compliance requirements.
• Manage and maintain training governance processes, systems and reporting frameworks.
• Administer operational training records and learning management systems, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
• Develop and maintain training matrices that monitor competencies, currency and training risks.
• Analyse training data and provide meaningful reporting and KPI insights to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with operational trainers, People & Culture and other stakeholders to deliver training outcomes.
• Prepare and communicate training updates, initiatives and workforce capability information.
• Support familiarisation training and emergency preparedness activities across operational teams.

The Expertise You Bring

• Relevant qualifications and/or at least three years' experience in training, learning and development.
• Experience working in operational, transport, logistics, maritime, resources or heavy industry environments.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining training governance frameworks and reporting processes.
• Strong capability in data analysis, reporting and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience coordinating training schedules and managing competing operational priorities.
• Knowledge of learning management systems and workforce capability frameworks.
• Strong organisational, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• A proactive continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Current C Class driver's licence.
