About the opportunity

Mercy Palliative Care is a 24-hour community-based palliative care service providing in home care to patients of all ages with life limiting illnesses. Our services cover the North and West Metropolitan region of Melbourne which incorporates seven municipalities including: Brimbank, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Moonee Valley, Hobson Bay and Wyndham.


In addition to our extensive community-based palliative care program, the services also include a Specialist Palliative Care Consultative Service and operates a 12-bed Inpatient Palliative Care Unit at Werribee Mercy Hospital. Together, these services form a comprehensive and fully integrated model of palliative care, offering seamless support across community, hospital consultative and inpatient settings.


Our multidisciplinary team—including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals—is committed to delivering holistic, compassionate care that supports patients and their families to achieve the best possible quality of life. We address physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, with a strong focus on symptom management and proactive, person-centred care. We also recognise the psychological, financial and emotional burden experienced during the palliative phase and work closely with families to alleviate these pressures.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
