This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity supporting parks, conservation and civil maintenance services on stunning North Stradbroke Island. Your responsibilities will include:
Leading and motivating a multiskilled team across parks, conservation, and civil maintenance activities.
Coordinating daily work programs across two rotating teams:
- Parks Team: mowing, brush‑cutting, garden and landscape maintenance, litter removal, bin collection and deceased animal retrieval.
- Roads, Drainage & Marine Team: pothole repairs, signage upkeep, unsealed road maintenance, and contractor coordination.
Ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard in public‑facing environments.
Using technology to manage work orders, documentation and reporting.
Providing accurate technical advice on parks, conservation and roads tasks.
Leading by example to maintain strong team morale, cooperation and a productive work environment.
The position is based on North Stradbroke Island. Staff are required to arrange and cover their own travel to and from the Dunwich Depot.
Skills and experience:
Proven experience in parks, grounds or horticultural maintenance, as well as construction or civil maintenance.
Demonstrated leadership capability including team organisation, prioritisation, motivation and performance support.
Strong communication and customer service skills, particularly when interacting with the public.
Ability to implement efficient work practices and maintain high levels of safety and productivity.
Physical fitness to perform manual labour over extended periods.
Confidence using digital tools to complete work orders and reporting requirements.
A collaborative, positive and team‑focused approach.

Eligibility:
- You'll hold a current LR Drivers Licence.
- You'll have a Level 3 Trade Certificate (TAFE) in Horticulture or equivalent
- You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.
- To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
