The opportunity

For many children, their first experience of our game comes through AFL Auskick, Superkick and school football programs. As Participation Coordinator – Brisbane, you’ll play an important role in growing participation by delivering high-quality football experiences that inspire children and young people to get involved, stay involved and transition into community club football.

Based in Yeronga and reporting to the Participation & Programs Manager – Metro Central, you’ll help strengthen and grow participation across the region through the delivery of AFL programs in schools, clubs and community settings. Through professional, engaging and consistent program delivery, you’ll help create positive experiences for participants, schools, volunteers and clubs while contributing to the continued growth of the game.

What you’ll own

You’ll help deliver memorable football experiences that encourage participation and strengthen connections across schools, clubs and communities.

You’ll add value through:

• Delivering AFL participation programs across schools, before and after school settings, and community clubs to create engaging and positive experiences for participants


• Driving participation growth through the delivery and promotion of AFL Auskick, Superkick and other football programs across the region


• Building and maintaining strong relationships with schools, teachers, clubs and community stakeholders to support program success


• Identifying and supporting opportunities to establish and grow AFL Auskick and Superkick centres across the region


• Delivering promotional activities, including school assemblies, clinics and community engagement initiatives, to support participation targets


• Ensuring all programs are delivered safely, consistently and in line with program curriculum and participation standards


• Implementing strategies that support participant retention and transition from school and introductory programs into junior club football


• Coordinating and delivering high-quality school football competitions and participation opportunities


• Supporting clubs and centres with participant recruitment, volunteer engagement, coaching support, promotion and operational requirements


• Coordinating AFL player appearances and fan engagement opportunities where applicable


• Contributing to team projects and initiatives that support broader participation and growth objectives


• Working collaboratively across the team to deliver shared outcomes and exceptional customer experiences

What you’ll bring

• Demonstrated experience working with children and young people in sport, recreation, education or community settings


• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information effectively to a range of audiences


• Well-developed relationship-building skills and the ability to engage positively with schools, clubs, volunteers and community stakeholders


• Experience delivering programs, activities or events in a customer-focused environment


• Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively


• Proven customer service capability, including influencing and negotiation skills


• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively with a high degree of autonomy


• Confidence delivering practical, energetic and engaging activities for children of varying ages and abilities


• Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to team outcomes


• Experience engaging with diverse communities and creating inclusive participation opportunities


• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required to support program delivery


• Current driver licence and ability to travel throughout the region as required


• Valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain one


• Ability to successfully complete a satisfactory criminal history record check
