Pastoral Care Volunteer, Community Home Visits, Auchenflower QLD

HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their home.

As a pastoral care volunteer, you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church, offering comfort, presence, and hope to those who need it most.

Can you offer a listening ear and a prayerful heart to someone longing to be heard?

We’re seeking a pastoral care volunteer to visit a kind widower once a fortnight. Though his mobility is limited, his heart is open. Since the passing of his wife, whose faith meant a great deal to her, he’s begun exploring his own spiritual questions. He loves country music, cherishes his family, and enjoys talking about life, current events, and what may come after.

Your presence could be the highlight of his fortnight \- bringing conversation, connection, and spiritual companionship.

You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:

* Support people to meet their spiritual needs

* Nurture spiritual development

Skills required for this role:

\- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.

\- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training\- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Volunteering along side Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Requirements

18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare  •

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
