Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, the Payroll Assistant will provide day-to-day support across payroll administration, employee queries, data maintenance, compliance activities, and payroll processing.

Based within our People & Culture team, you'll work closely with employees, leaders, and external stakeholders to support the successful delivery of payroll services across the business. 

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and processing of fortnightly payrolls.
• Support the accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries.
• Process new starter, employee change, and termination documentation.
• Respond to payroll enquiries and assist in resolving payroll-related issues.
• Maintain employee records, leave balances, payroll data, and timekeeping information.
• Assist with leave processing and employee entitlement queries.
• Support payroll reconciliations, reporting, and month-end activities.
• Assist with payroll tax, superannuation, child support, and other statutory obligations.
• Prepare payroll reports and provide administrative support for internal reporting requirements.
• Liaise with employees, managers, and external providers regarding payroll matters.
• Ensure payroll activities comply with legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and company policies.
• Contribute to process improvements and maintain a high level of payroll accuracy and confidentiality. 

Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in payroll, payroll administration, finance administration, or a similar support role.
• Experience using payroll systems such as ADP, Oracle HCM, Kronos, or similar is highly advantageous
• Experience supporting payroll reconciliations and reporting activities. 
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent numerical and data-entry skills.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and employment conditions.
