Payroll Consultant

A growing consulting business is seeking an experienced Payroll Consultant to support a broad portfolio of clients across BAU payroll delivery, systems implementations and advisory engagements. This is a rare opportunity for payroll professionals who love the rhythm of payroll and want exposure to project work, transformation and client advisory, without losing touch with hands-on processing.
Your new role
This is a true hybrid consulting position, offering variety and challenge across multiple client environments. Depending on the engagement, your responsibilities may include:
Acting as a trusted payroll specialist, delivering accurate end-to-end payroll processing during critical periods
Supporting or leading payroll and HRIS implementations (including testing and go-live activities)
Conducting payroll remediation, compliance reviews and employer obligation checks
Identifying root-cause issues and improving payroll processes and controls
Providing advisory support to senior stakeholders and coaching internal payroll teams
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing within the Australian legislative environmentStrong understanding of awards, Enterprise Agreements and statutory obligations
Exposure to Tier 1 payroll or HR systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Dayforce or similar
A consulting or advisory mindset with strong stakeholder communication skills
The ability to balance BAU payroll delivery with project-based work and process improvement
