Your Opportunity

Queensland Rail has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and strategic planning professional to join our Strategic Integrated Planning team as a Principal Rail Operations Integrator on a permanent full-time basis.

In this influential role, you'll help shape the future of rail operations across Queensland. Working at the intersection of operational planning, major projects, and strategic decision-making, you will develop integrated plans and insights that support safe, efficient, and sustainable rail services.

You will play a key role in ensuring Queensland Rail's operational priorities align with government transport strategies, major infrastructure investments, and future service requirements, helping prepare our network for continued growth and future events, including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic operational planning initiatives that support Queensland Rail's corporate objectives and long-term business priorities.
  
  
  • Develop integrated operational plans, frameworks, assessments, and recommendations that inform strategic decision-making.
  
  
  • Manage planning and project delivery activities, including governance, budgets, schedules, risk management, and reporting.
  
  
  • Analyse operational, capacity, and network planning data to identify opportunities, risks, and sustainable solutions.
  
  
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, including contractors and consultants, to support planning outcomes.
  
  
  • Build strong relationships across Queensland Rail, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to drive integrated planning and collaboration.
  
  
  • Prepare high-quality executive reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior leaders and governance forums.
  
  
  • Support the integration of major projects, operational requirements, and future network capacity planning to ensure service delivery objectives are achieved.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• 
  
  
  
  • Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to complex planning, operational, or infrastructure projects within a structured project management environment.
  
  
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into practical business and operational solutions.
  
  
  • Experience developing integrated plans and balancing competing priorities across multiple stakeholders.
  
  
  • Knowledge of rail operations, transport planning, network capacity planning, or other complex operational environments (highly regarded).
  
  
  • Proven ability to develop and manage budgets, resources, contracts, and procurement activities.
  
  
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organisational levels.
  
  
  • The ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including government and industry partners.
