As a Privacy Specialist, you’ll support Australian Retirement Trust in meeting its obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Working closely with Privacy Analysts and Data and AI teams, you’ll help embed practical privacy practices across the organisation.

You’ll contribute to privacy impact assessments, assess third-party risks and provide operational advice to support the compliant handling of personal information, while promoting a strong culture of trust and transparency.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

  • Conduct privacy impact assessments on systems, data uses and initiatives.
  • Assess third party vendors to identify and mitigate privacy risks.
  • Provide operational privacy advice across the business.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of privacy training and awareness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Privacy Specialists and Analysts across Data and AI.
  • Support privacy complaint resolution processes.
  • Promote a culture of trust, transparency and responsible data use.
  • Support the Manager – Privacy with additional privacy and data protection activities.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You have experience supporting privacy, data protection, regulatory compliance or risk activities.
  • Your understanding of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) is well developed, and you have experience applying the APPs to real world scenarios.
  • You'll demonstrate strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement capability.
  • You're highly detail oriented and handle sensitive information with discretion and care.
  • You bring excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Your experience includes working in complex or regulated environments.
  • You'll ideally have exposure to financial services, superannuation or member-owned organisations.
  • You're working towards or hold a qualification in law, risk, data governance, information security or similar.
