Production Assistant (Nursery)

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of farm workers
  
• Monitor productivity and quality standards
  
• Provide training, guidance, and hands -on support
  
• Assist with onboarding seasonal workers
  

• Blueberry harvesting and quality selection
  
• Planting, pruning, and trellising
  
• Irrigation setup and monitoring
  
• Fertiliser and crop protection applications
  
• Conduct field checks for plant health, pests, and irrigation issues
  

• Oversee nursery operations: propagation, watering, fertilising, pest control
  
• Monitor plant quality and health standards
  
• Supervise nursery staff and seasonal workers
  
• Maintain stock records, plant labelling, and inventory
  
• Support packing plants for export markets
  

• Assist with daily and weekly planning
  
• Track harvest volumes, yields, and worker performance
  
• Maintain accurate production records and timesheets
  
• Support logistics between field and packing operations
  
• Identify and suggest improvements for efficiency
  

• Ensure correct usage and maintenance of tools and equipment
  
• Monitor supplies such as fertilisers, irrigation components, and picking trays
  
• Promote efficient use of water and resources
  

• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
  
• Ensure use of proper PPE
  
• Support compliance with agricultural regulations
  

Requirements

• Certificate VI, Diploma, or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field
  
• Basic knowledge of farm management systems and Microsoft Office
  
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant farm production experience
  
• Exposure to soft fruit / low chill varieties (advantageous)
  
• Experience across farming activities from land preparation to harvesting
  

• Solid understanding of crop production, harvesting techniques, and farm operations
  
• Basic knowledge of irrigation, pest control, and soil management
  
• Strong problem -solving and organisational ability
  
• Ability to monitor and report farm conditions
  

• Ability to supervise small teams and allocate tasks effectively
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  
• Adaptable to changing weather and peak production periods
