Project Manager, Field Operations

Your day in the life of a Project Manager, Field Operations at Optus

• Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of fibre infrastructure projects within the Damage and Relocations (DAR) portfolio, supporting 5G Mobile and Core Network programs


• Manage projects from survey and approvals through to build, completion and handover — ensuring delivery to time, cost, quality and HSE standards


• Drive RFQ / RFT processes, contractor engagement, purchase orders, cost variations and performance management


• Act as the escalation point for complex delivery and Severity 1 & 2 service interruptions, working across internal teams and external partners


• Build strong working relationships with councils, regulators, utilities, developers, vendors and internal stakeholders


• Identify and lead process improvements, automation and transformation initiatives to improve customer experience and reduce cost


• Provide clear reporting, insights and updates to senior stakeholders and national forums

Your skills to pay the bills

• Tertiary qualification in a business or technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience


• Extensive experience in project management, leadership and change management within a complex operational environment


• Proven experience delivering infrastructure or network projects (telecommunications or similar industries preferred)


• Strong commercial capability, including vendor, contract and cost management


• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership


• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in high‑pressure environments


• A proactive mindset with a continuous improvement and customer‑first focus
