Job Description - Psychiatry Registrar

PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Provision of psychiatric and medical care to patients.

  • To admit and provide psychiatric care to patients that have been admitted under the supervising psychiatrist.

  • To conduct outpatient sessions at the Burwood Medical Centre if required.

  • To participate in Psychiatric Registrar Training Program activities.

  • To participate in research and quality Improvement activities as directed.

  • To participate in teaching activities with medical students.

  • To participate coordinate patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • To maintain timely documentation, including progress notes, drug treatment charts, prescriptions, authorities and transfer/ discharge summaries.

  • Interim discharge summary to be completed within 48 hours and final discharge summary to be completed within 14 days of discharge.

  • Act as a resource and support to Unit Managers and other clinical staff.

  • Assume responsibility for organising own workload, in collaboration with supervisor, to complete agreed upon duties within agreed time frame per clinical indicators

  • To assist in providing ward cover to the hospital if required.

  • To provide support to clinical staff in an emergency response procedure when required
