Job Description - QLD and WA Fleet Team Leader


For over 165 years, CGU has been insuring ambition. Part of Insurance Australia Group (known as IAG), we’re a leading commercial, rural and personal lines insurer and a top-three provider of workers compensation insurance.

Bring your proven leadership experience to this role where you can shape a team, lift capability and create genuine impact within our Intermediated Insurance Business. As a Fleet Team Leader for WA and QLD, you’ll lead a group of underwriters to achieve business objectives, ensuring that work is delivered to a high standard. This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity with a strong focus on coaching, performance and culture. You’ll work closely with stakeholders and brokers supporting proactive account planning and pipeline development for our WA and QLD business.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Meanjin (Brisbane) or Boorloo (Perth) with occasional interstate travel.

What You'll Do



  • Lead, coach and develop a team of underwriters, building capability through regular feedback, structured development plans and ongoing support

  • Foster a positive, accountable and high‑performing team culture that encourages growth, collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Strengthen relationships with brokers and stakeholders by acting as an escalation point and supporting effective engagement strategies

  • Guide the team toward proactive, commercially focused behaviours, including stronger follow‑up, pipeline management and account planning


 


What You'll Bring



  • Proven experience leading and managing medium to large teams, with a strong track record of delivering against performance targets and service standards

  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring capability, with the ability to build team capability and lift individual performance through structured feedback and development planning

  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills across a range of stakeholders

  • Ability to foster a positive, accountable team culture, promoting engagement, wellbeing and continuous improvement

  • Experience in insurance, sales or service leadership environments would be beneficial but not essential
