Quality Engineer

As one of Australia’s leading sheet vinyl suppliers, and the only Australian manufacturer, is looking for a quality/environment/safety champion to support our Quality/Improvement Manager in the restructuring and relaunching of Armstrong Flooring’s ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO17025 and ISO45001 management system (IMS) for the achievement of operational excellence at our Braeside manufacturing facility.

About Us

Armstrong Flooring, a key supplier to health and other commercial markets, has recently been purchased by a well known Australian family.  With a focus on maintaining quality while driving improvements in environmental performance and adoption of a proactive approach to OHS, this new role has been created to support our QA/Improvement Manager in development,  maintenance and implementation of an IMS to promote these objectives.

The Role

Reporting to the Quality/Improvement Manager and working closely with production personnel you will be responsible for:

• Championing and supporting the Quality/Improvement Manager in the effective deployment and continued improvement of the IMS, promoting quality/environmental/safety awareness and ensuring maintenance of ISO 
• Resolve safety and quality issues and support implementation of corrective actions
• Regularly review the IMS, updating JSA’s, SOP’s, HIRA’s etc as appropriate
• Conduct regular inspections, quality/safety/environmental audits and hazard/incident reports of sites and equipment
• Co-ordinate and undertake internal audits raising awareness and compliance in the process and providing support during third party external audits
• Undertaking rework/recycling activities including colour matching, formulations and allocation to shop orders
• Undertake testing and inspection programs/activities and analysing results including finished product inspections, raw material receiving inspections and first production batch QA inspection for externally sourced products
• Undertake statistical analysis and report writing
• Monitoring production processes and practices to ensure all quality/environmental/safety standards are being met
• Identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations to management for process improvements for improved quality/environmental/safety outcomes
• Investigation of non-conformances

About You

Ideally you will have:

• Genuine passion for quality/environment/safety and a desire for workplace improvement
• Experience in a quality/safety role in a manufacturing environment
• Internal audit experience
• An understanding of quality assurance and safety systems, regulations and standards within a manufacturing environment
• Tertiary qualifications in quality management, safety management or a related field would be an asset
• Good proficiency in MS Office  – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
