Job Description - QUT Women in Electrical Engineering postgraduate scholarship

We are seeking a talented and motivated PhD candidate with a background in the fields of electrical engineering. You should have a strong interest and experience in one or more areas of electrical power engineering, robotics, signal processing and machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI).

About the scholarship

You will receive an annual stipend of $55,000 per annum for full-time students (pro-rata for part-time students), inclusive of a base scholarship as well as a Women in Electrical Engineering top-up scholarship. 

The scholarship is paid on a fortnightly basis, and is tax exempt for full-time students. The scholarship can be used to support living costs.

In addition:
• domestic students receive an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) fees offset
• international students receive a QUT tuition fee sponsorship.

As the scholarship recipient, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of leading researchers, to undertake your own innovative research in and across the fields of robotics, electrical power and signal processing, machine learning and AI within the QUT School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship, you must meet the entry requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil) at QUT, including any English language requirements for international students and not be in receipt of another living allowance scholarship to undertake the research degree.

In addition, this scholarship has specific eligibility conditions, including:
applicants must identify as a woman (please note: applications that do not fulfil this criterion will not be considered)
• prospective applicants must have identified or plan to identify a research project in a domain in a research team at the School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics
• applicants must nominate a proposed supervisor, and must make contact with the supervisor prior to submitting an Expression of Interest
• applicants must be able to demonstrate an outstanding track record, for example first class honours and/or high-quality research outputs
• applications are not open to QUT current students (however are open to current QUT students who are applying to commence in a new degree at QUT
• applicants must be able to commence, on shore, in 2023.
