Job Description - Regional Manager - Indigenous Programs (NT)

The opportunity


 


This is a 12 month Maximum Term contract, based in Darwin.


 


This role plays an important part in using football to create positive wellbeing outcomes for First Nations people and communities across the Northern Territory. By supporting the successful delivery of AFLNT’s Indigenous programs in remote and regional communities, you will help strengthen participation, engagement and community connections.


 


Based in Darwin, the Remote Development Manager is responsible for supporting and overseeing a team of Remote Development Leads working across First Nations communities throughout the NT. 


 


The role focuses on creating safe, structured and effective environments for staff to deliver targeted AFL programs, while building strong relationships with community stakeholders, partner organisations and funding partners.


 


 


What you’ll own


 


You will help create the conditions for successful program delivery across remote and regional communities.


 


You’ll add value through:



  • Supporting and guiding Remote Development Leads to live and work safely and effectively within First Nations communities across the Northern Territory

  • Developing and implementing engaging AFL and AFL-themed programs that contribute to positive community wellbeing outcomes

  • Ensuring work plans are clear, purposeful and aligned to participation, engagement and program objectives

  • Building strong relationships with community stakeholders, partner organisations and government agencies to support collaboration and shared outcomes

  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on participation outcomes and program performance for internal and external stakeholders

  • Identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships, innovation, resource sharing and funding outcomes through AFL programs

  • Preparing progress reports, funding acquittals and sponsorship reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner

  • Managing housing, vehicle and operational resources to support effective program delivery in remote locations

  • Providing regular wellbeing support, coaching and check-ins for staff working in remote and very remote communities

  • Travelling to regional, remote and very remote communities to support staff development, stakeholder engagement and program outcomes when required


 


 


What you’ll bring


 



  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically dispersed or remote teams to deliver strong outcomes through safe and structured work practices

  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

  • Experience supporting staff through complex situations using sound judgement, professionalism and care

  • Understanding of the cultural, social and community contexts of First Nations communities across the Northern Territory

  • Experience working effectively with First Nations peoples and communities using culturally informed approaches

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently across a broad range of stakeholders

  • Experience building productive relationships with community organisations, government agencies and external partners

  • Capability to monitor program outcomes and prepare reports that demonstrate impact and accountability

  • A commitment to creating safe, supportive and inclusive environments for staff and communities

  • Current NT Driver’s Licence

  • Current Working with Children Clearance (NT Ochre Card), or the ability to obtain one

  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to remote and very remote locations as required
