Job Description - Registered Midwife - Birth Suite/Postnatal/SCN

St John of God Geelong Hospital

Join a dynamic, obstetrician-led Maternity Unit delivering high-quality, woman-centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment, we currently have permanent full time and part-time opportunities available for experienced Midwives.

Our midwives provide all aspects of pregnancy, birth and postnatal care in our antenatal clinics and services, on our maternity wards, birth suites and in our special care nurseries.

About our Maternity Unit

  • Modern 4bed Birthing Suite designed for safe, calm and personalised birthing experiences

  • 8cot Level 3 Special Care Nursery (SCN) providing specialised care for unwell or premature babies

  • 30 bed antenatal/postnatal ward, plus onsite CTG clinic/outpatient clinics and lactation support

  • K2 Guardian Fetal Monitoring System for continuous, real‑time fetal surveillance and enhanced clinical decision-making

  • We welcomed 990 births last year and tracking toward 1,000+ births this year — a vibrant, growing maternity service

The Position

  • Assesses plans, delivers and evaluates patient care, seeking support from senior staff as required.

  • Promotes and contributes to effective communication, facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the ward and within the hospital.

  • Provides patient education and acts as a resource where appropriate.

  • Supports and supervises staff and students as required, including orientating and preceptoring staff.

  • Contributes to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives.

You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse Midwife, a demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction, along with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.

The Benefits

  • Salary: $81,995 to $103,482 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 12% superannuation

  • Permanent Full time and Part time positions available
