Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain and optimise Open Journal Systems (OJS) and WordPress, ensuring platforms remain secure, reliable and up to date.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across publishing systems, supporting colleagues, authors and editors with platform access and workflow queries.
- Maintain system stability, monitor performance and implement updates that support business continuity and digital publishing operations.
- Deliver technical guidance and onboarding for users of OJS, helping contributors confidently navigate publishing workflows.
- Work closely with internal colleagues to support digital publishing projects while contributing to future IT planning and platform development.
Experience and skills that will deliver success in this role: We're looking for someone with experience working with publishing platforms who enjoys solving technical challenges and is keen to build their expertise. You'll be comfortable managing your own work in a remote environment, take a proactive approach to improving systems, and care about delivering reliable, user-focused digital services.
Essential:
- Hands-on experience administering Open Journal Systems (OJS).
- WordPress CMS administration experience.
- Confident troubleshooting technical issues across web-based publishing platforms.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage work independently.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting academic publishing workflows.
- Knowledge of user permissions, publication workflows or digital content management.
- Experience delivering user training or creating technical guidance.
- Interest in system improvement, digital strategy or platform scalability.

What’s on offer:
- Job type: Permanent part-time, fully remote role
- Hours: Approximately 5 hours per week during the 1–3 month onboarding period, increasing to around 10 hours per week ongoing
- Pay: $29.00 AUD per hour
- Projected first-year earnings: $13,195 plus superannuation
- Onboarding phase (13 weeks @ 5 hrs/week): $1,885
- Ongoing phase (39 weeks @ 10 hrs/week): $11,310
- Reporting to: Operations Manager
- Start date: Earliest 17 August 2026
