Classification Level: 4 ($46.70 to $50.25 per hour)

POSITION SUMMARY 

At Kyabra, our service teams use a strengths-based approach while working alongside people in our community to support them as they navigate the circumstances and systems that significantly impact their lives while helping them identify and achieve their personal goals.

Our Sunshine Coast teams provide housing and domestic and family violence support services to a broad range of community members who present, or are referred to, the organisation.

Using cultural knowledge, community connections and lived experience, the Resource Worker (Identified) will assist in ensuring culturally safe and responsive services are provided to community members. Based on community and organisational need, this position will:

• Perform both intake and assessment and case management functions,
  


• Strengthen cultural competency by offering advice/guidance on how to provide culturally safe services and support,
  


• Explore opportunities to strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities/groups, stakeholders and organisations, and
  


• Be an active member of Kyabra’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Party.
  

This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under section 105: Equal opportunity measures of the Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).

This role is required to be available for an afterhours On-Call roster.

This is a fixed-term contract with a proposed commencement date on or around Monday 28 September 2026.

Hours of Work

The successful candidate is expected to work 60h 48m per fortnight (e.g. 4 days per week) during standard business hours.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications & Training

• While tertiary qualifications are preferred (bachelor's degree or higher), equivalent experience will be considered. See Desirable section for further information.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Demonstrated experience working in the community service sector in one or more of the following areas: intake and assessment, case management, domestic and family violence, housing support services, mental health etc.
  


• Demonstrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge and lived experience, including the ability to apply this towards developing culturally safe and responsive community services.
  


• Demonstrated understanding of the issues, systems and circumstances that significantly affect community members, and the ability to proactively establish strategies and solutions towards remediation.
  


• Demonstrated understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act (2012), Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act (2008), and other relevant human services legislation.
  


• Strong community development and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience building/operating within collaborative partnerships and networks.
  


• Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of social justice, as well as a demonstrated capacity to work in ways that focus on people’s strengths.
  


• Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, including an ability to work autonomously or as part of a team, and adapt to various circumstances as necessary to support the organisation and/or community members.

History Checks & Clearances

The successful applicant will be required to hold a positive result for the following mandatory Personal and Criminal History Checks:

• Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  


• A valid open driver’s license (Queensland).
  

Desirable

• Tertiary qualification (bachelor's degree or higher) in Human Services, Social Work, and/or another relevant field.


• Existing community connections and referral networks, or the ability to rapidly acquire them.
