About the Role
The Risk and Compliance Manager reports to the Head of Risk and Compliance (HRC) and is responsible for assisting across risk and compliance matters across eToro’s Australian entities, including AFSL obligations and, where relevant, the Spaceship Super offering. The team covers product disclosure, marketing compliance, complaints handling, risk and control reviews, staff training, and special projects including new product development, data analysis, auditing, and remediation plan development for control failures.
This is a hands-on advisory role suited to a risk and compliance professional with deep financial services regulatory knowledge, strong stakeholder communication skills, and the appetite to work in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy: Determine, agree, and execute elements of the compliance strategy for eToro Australia in conjunction with the HRC
Regulatory Engagement: Support the HRC in managing regulatory relationships with ASIC, APRA (where applicable), AUSTRAC, the Privacy Commissioner, and the ATO
AFCA: Develop and maintain the AFCA relationship, acting as eToro's primary representative on all AFCA-related matters
Framework: Enhance and improve the risk and compliance management framework by partnering with the Executive Team to achieve operational compliance
Oversight: Provide second-line oversight, challenge, and reporting on the adequacy of the compliance framework, obligations register, and compliance plans, including for Boards and Committees
Compliance Plan: Assist with compliance plan monitoring activities and associated follow-up reviews across the Australian entities
Risk: Support risk identification, monitoring, incident management, and control reviews across the Australian entities, in line with the group risk management framework
Trustee Engagement: Support the relationship with Spaceship Super’s external trustee to enable effective governance and regulatory oversight of the superannuation offering
Training: Develop and conduct targeted risk and compliance training programs across the Australian business
Projects: Support special projects including new product launches, data analysis, compliance audits, and remediation planning
About You
Tertiary qualification in Finance, Law, Risk Management, or a related discipline
Minimum 7 years of risk and compliance experience in Australian financial services, with at least 3 years at Manager level or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of ASIC regulations and AFSL obligations, including relevant Regulatory Guides
Experience managing or supporting regulatory relationships (ASIC, AUSTRAC, AFCA)
AML/CTF compliance experience, including familiarity with AUSTRAC reporting obligations
Demonstrated ability to provide second-line oversight and produce board-quality reporting
Open to creative solutions and business innovation; genuine team player
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior management and regulators
Desirable
Experience in a fintech, retail broker, or payments environment
Familiarity with DDO (Design and Distribution Obligations) compliance
Exposure to crypto asset compliance and ASIC's evolving digital asset regulatory framework
RG 146 certification
Exposure to superannuation regulation (including APRA prudential standards and the SIS Act) and external trustee operating models

Sydney office-based with hybrid flexibility (2 days remote per week). We're located in the CBD and easy to access via public transport. Full working rights in Australia required.
