Job Description - Sales Training & Business Development Specialist, Diabetes

A Day in the Life

We have an exciting new opportunity to join Medtronic as a Sales Training and Business Development Specialist. In this role, the successful individual will lead the ANZ region “in the field” employee activities. You will play a critical role in being the sales training lead for product launches so that “insights selling” is at the forefront of each launch. You will also be accountable for development and promotion of programs and resources linked to sales training to continue to develop the field’s professional selling skills and call quality. This role will also focus on Business development Nationally with select customers, to keep the sales training relevant, and grow the business in parallel.

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.

  • Ensure Medtronic personnel maintain a high level of selling skills and customer value add

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a structured program that reinforces marketing strategies and ensures the continued enhancement of selling and commercial skills

  • Collaborate closely with the NSM, marketing, and education teams to design insight focused resources and execute sales plans for new product launches, coordinating sales training initiatives for both Medtronic field staff and customers to drive successful adoption of new technologies across ANZ

  • Active involvement in new hire training by supporting in-person training, plus field coaching, supervision, and competency assessments in collaboration with their manager

  • Develop sales training materials, determine methodology and provide detailed reports and insights to the leadership team to support strategic decision-making

  • Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives

  • Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep sales training information up to date

Responsibilities of Business Development may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Promotes and sells Medtronic’s products and services with specific customer accounts to meet or exceed sales targets

  • Identify top CPT stakeholders and develop and execute plans to grow business

  • Responsible for developing, building, and strengthening long-term relationships with key CPT stakeholders in collaboration with RSMs and TMs

  • Conducts market research including customers and competitor’s activities

  • Implements market development plans/strategies and changes

  • Responsible for pursuing leads, assessing needs and providing product services to maximize the benefits derived from Medtronic's products and/or services

  • Promotes and establishes education of the company's products and/or services

  • Collaboration on new products and/or modifications to existing products or applications to internal stakeholders including R&D, Operations and Marketing

  • KPIs and accountability of focus CPT calls and sales

  • Events running to support education and loyalty in CPT customers

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 4 years relevant experience, or Advanced degree with minimum of 2 years relevant experience

  • Relevant professional experience in field sales training in medical device or healthcare industry, or proven sales experience with passion to successfully build and enable sales talent

  • Knowledge of education and training techniques (instructional design and learning) is desirable
