About our school 

Sophia College is a Catholic secondary school located in the Lockyer Valley, approximately 80kms west of Brisbane. The College opened in January 2021 and continues to grow enrolling a new cohort of students each year. Its Catholic identity is enriched through a Franciscan spirituality and a strong focus on ‘integral ecology’.

Sophia College is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Industrial Technology Skills & Design Technology Skills Teacher to join our growing learning community. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students through creative, hands-on learning experiences that foster design thinking, problem-solving, and practical skills. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong curriculum knowledge, a commitment to contemporary teaching practices, and the ability to create engaging learning environments where students are encouraged to explore, design, and create with confidence. In this position you will be responsible for:



  • Creating a nurturing and ordered learning environment that is learner-centred, supportive, cooperative, and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices

  • Collaboratively developing and implementing quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy; evaluating their effectiveness; assessing and reporting student progress and learning outcomes; and reporting these to students, parents and the community

  • Working collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers and other staff members in contributing to the professional life of the school and fostering a positive school culture

  • Proactively engaging with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes

  • Establishing positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and supporting their spiritual and moral development

  • Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:



  • Creating a supportive, learner-focused classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum

  • Expertise in designing and delivering effective curriculum programs in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers

  • Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to enrich learning experiences and achieve the best educational outcomes for students

  • A passion to support students' spiritual and moral development

  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment

  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
