Senior Accounts Payable Officer

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Officer to take ownership of complex accounts, queries and escalations, while supporting reliable processing, strong controls and positive stakeholder relationships. You’ll provide guidance and coaching to AP Officers, contribute AP expertise to cross-functional projects, and help improve SAP, Esker and related invoice-processing practices.

This permanent, full-time hybrid role requires at least two office days per week

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, approval workflows and payments


• Manage complex accounts payable accounts, queries and escalations from sites, vendors and internal stakeholders


• Provide technical guidance, coaching and practical support to Accounts Payable Officers


• Ensure accounts payable policies, procedures, compliance requirements, controls and fraud-prevention practices are followed


• Identify and implement practical continuous improvement opportunities across invoice processing and related AP processes


• Prepare weekly payment forecast and share with Treasury team


• Support testing, system improvements and project work across SAP, Esker and related platforms

About You

• A minimum of 5 years’ accounts payable experience, including experience operating at a senior level or carrying senior responsibilities


• Strong end-to-end accounts payable knowledge and demonstrated ability to resolve complex accounts, queries and escalations


• Experience with SAP or another large ERP, plus Esker or a comparable OCR or automated invoice-processing system


• Experience supporting projects, system testing or process improvement initiatives


• Sound knowledge of AP compliance, financial controls and fraud-prevention practices


• Confident communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across teams, sites and vendors


• The ability to coach others, build credibility and provide guidance in an approachable and collaborative way
