Job Description - Senior Associate- Cash Operations, Technology and Operations, DBS Australia (Sydney)

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform checker review and approval of BAU transactions relating to Cash and Global Financial Markets (GFM) Operations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with required controls.
  • Ensure payment and settlement transactions are completed accurately, within agreed service level agreements, and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Monitor operational risks, exceptions, and control requirements in line with Group processes, policies, and local regulatory obligations.
  • Escalate issues, exceptions, and potential control gaps in a timely manner, and follow through to ensure appropriate resolution.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to team members to support operational capability and consistent adherence to procedures.
  • Support UAT, LV testing, projects, and Head Office initiatives impacting Cash and GFM Operations when required.
  • Prepare monthly reports and metrics to monitor transaction performance, operational quality, and control outcomes.
  • Adhere to risk and compliance protocols, including Group requirements, country regulations, and internal control standards.

Job Duties & responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and approve Cash and GFM transactions to ensure they are properly authorised, accurately processed, and supported by required documentation.
  • Ensure checklists, maker-checker controls, and departmental control requirements are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Review IFTI transactions and ensure reportable transactions are identified and submitted within required timelines.
  • Complete key daily and monthly reconciliations, investigate exceptions, and ensure timely remediation of outstanding items or backlogs.
  • Execute operational procedures and controls required by the Bank to comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and internal standards.
  • Escalate exceptions, incidents, or potential issues to senior Operations staff and follow through to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  • Provide operational support to GFM dealers, IBG Relationship Managers, and other internal stakeholders as required.
  • Train and mentor new and existing team members on processes, controls, and operational standards.
  • Assist with testing, projects, system enhancements, and Head Office initiatives that impact Cash and GFM Operations.
  • Support business-as-usual activities and undertake any other responsibilities assigned by Management from time to time.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in banking operations, preferably within payments, settlements, or treasury operations.
  • Prior experience performing checker, authorisation, approval, or control review responsibilities in an operations environment.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring team members, including new joiners, process users, or junior operations staff.
  • Good working knowledge of payment message formats, including MT and MX messages, and relevant Cash and GFM products such as money market products, bonds, fixed income, repos, and AEMO-related transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of SWIFT, RITS, Austraclear, Murex, and related operational platforms.
  • Sound understanding of operational risk, maker-checker controls, reconciliations, escalation protocols, and control checklist requirements.
  • Knowledge of AML/CTF, sanctions monitoring, and IFTI reporting obligations.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and ability to manage competing priorities in a controlled environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence engaging internal stakeholders and supporting project or testing activities.
