Senior Associate/Special Counsel, Restructuring and Insolvency

A leading commercial law practice is seeking a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its Sydney-based Restructuring & Insolvency team.

This is a senior opportunity for a lawyer looking to play a key role on complex, high-value matters, with a mix of advisory, transactional and contentious insolvency work.

You will work closely with experienced practitioners on a broad range of restructuring and insolvency matters, from early-stage advisory through to formal appointments and related disputes.

The role offers a high level of responsibility, including hands-on matter management, strategic input and direct client engagement. You will also play a role in mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the broader growth of the team.

You can expect to be involved in:

• Advising on complex restructures, workouts and distressed scenarios
  


• Acting on corporate insolvency matters, including administrations and liquidations
  


• Managing insolvency-related disputes and enforcement matters
  


• Advising insolvency practitioners, corporates, funds and lenders
  


• Supporting high-value and time-sensitive engagements requiring strategic input
  

• 7+ years’ experience in restructuring & insolvency within private practice
  


• Strong technical capability across both advisory and contentious matters
  


• Commercially minded with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  


• Confident managing matters and engaging directly with clients
  


• Proven ability to mentor and support junior lawyers
  


• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate in fast-paced environments
