A great opportunity exists for a Senior Lawyer to join our Insurance and Advice legal team on a 12-month fixed term contract. In this role, you’ll provide trusted, solution-focused legal and regulatory advice that helps our insurance business make confident decisions, protect what matters most, and deliver better outcomes for customers.

You’ll work closely with teams across retail life insurance and corporate functions, supporting key initiatives, navigating regulatory complexity, and shaping how we manage risk, governance, and compliance. Your advice will enable innovation while ensuring we meet our obligations in a fast-evolving financial services environment.

You will also be responsible for the following:

• Provide timely, commercially focused legal advice on business initiatives and decisions


• Identify legal, regulatory and governance risks and provide clear, practical guidance


• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and support broader business negotiations


• Support complaints and disputes teams with advice on resolution and regulatory obligations


• Stay across legislative and regulatory changes and share insights with the business


• Contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes and ways of working

You’re a collaborative and commercially minded legal professional who brings clarity to complexity and builds trust through your advice. You’re comfortable working across stakeholders, balancing risk with opportunity, and delivering outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

• Qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate in New South Wales


• Significant post-qualification experience in financial services law, ideally within life insurance or advice


• Strong understanding of Australian financial services regulation and industry practices


• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on regulatory matters


• Proven ability to analyse complex issues and present clear, practical advice


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of a business
