Shape the Future of Audit: Lead Transformation at Bendigo Bank

About Us

At Bendigo Bank, we're not just a bank; we're a community-focused organisation driven by our purpose to feed into the prosperity of our customers and communities, not off them. Our values—Make a difference, Be better together, Own it, and Find the right way—are the heartbeat of our culture.

We are embarking on an exciting and transformative journey to build Australia’s most innovative, data-driven, and value-based audit function. Our Group Internal Audit (GIA) division has a new, bold strategy to move beyond traditional assurance and become a strategic asset that provides predictive insights and strengthens enterprise-wide decision-making.

This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of that change.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary and strategic Senior Manager, Audit Operations to join our leadership team. This is more than a role; it’s a career-defining opportunity to build the operational engine that will power our future-ready audit function.

Reporting to the General Manager of Group Internal Audit, you will be the architect of our operational excellence. You will provide strategic leadership across our audit methodology, quality assurance programs, board reporting, and the adoption of cutting-edge audit technology. You will be instrumental in executing our 3-year roadmap, transforming how we provide assurance and insight across the bank.

What You'll Do

  • Build Strong Foundations: Lead the evolution of our GIA methodology and Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP), ensuring alignment with IIA standards, regulatory expectations (APRA), and our ambitious strategic goals.

  • Drive Efficient Execution: Enhance our governance and reporting frameworks, delivering insightful, data-driven reports and dashboards for Executive Management and the Board Audit Committee.

  • Enable Data-Driven Assurance: Champion the adoption of new technologies, including data analytics, AI-enabled assurance techniques, and agile methodologies, to help us move toward continuous and predictive assurance.

  • Build a Future-Ready Team: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of intellectual rigour, continuous improvement, and professional scepticism.

  • Become a Trusted Partner: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, external auditors, and senior leaders across the bank, to enhance the profile and influence of the GIA function.

What You'll Bring

  • A strategic mindset with 10+ years of experience in Internal Audit, Risk, or Assurance within the financial services industry.

  • Deep expertise in IIA Global Internal Audit Standards (IPPF) and a strong understanding of the Australian regulatory landscape (APRA).

  • A proven track record of developing and implementing audit methodologies, quality assurance frameworks, and executive-level reporting.

  • Demonstrated leadership in driving transformational change, with experience in uplifting team capability and embedding new technologies and processes.

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage in courageous conversations and build trusted relationships at all levels.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., CA/CPA) and eligibility for IIA membership.
