About the Role

The Whistleblower Program plays a critical role in supporting ANZ's commitment to integrity, accountability and speaking up. The program helps ensure disclosures are managed appropriately, whistleblowers are protected, and ANZ continues to meet evolving legal, regulatory and community expectations.

As Senior Manager, Whistleblower Program, you will lead ANZ's enterprise-wide Whistleblower Program and serve as the Principal Whistleblower Protection Officer (WPO) and act as ANZ’s senior subject matter expert on whistleblower governance, protections and regulatory expectations. You will provide enterprise-wide leadership, oversight and guidance to ensure disclosures are managed effectively, whistleblowers are protected, and regulatory obligations are met. This will also involve leading the continued evolution of ANZ's whistleblower framework, ensuring it remains aligned with regulatory expectations, industry practice and ANZ's commitment to speaking up culture. 

This is a highly visible role that partners with senior leaders, Whistleblower Protection Officers, eligible recipients, Executive Committees and Board Committees to drive strong governance, provide expert advice, and continuously enhance ANZ's whistleblower framework and practices.

What will your day look like?

• Leading the Whistleblower Program and ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory obligations. 


• Acting as Principal Whistleblower Protection Officer, with responsibility for protecting whistleblower interests and overseeing effective case management. 


• Reviewing and approving investigation outcomes and recommendations arising from whistleblower disclosures. 


• Providing guidance and direction to business leaders on their obligations under ANZ's Whistleblower Policy. 


• Maintaining ownership of whistleblower policies, procedures and governance frameworks. 


• Prepare and present whistleblower reporting, insights and emerging risk themes to Executive and Board Committees. 


• Identify emerging conduct, culture and governance risks through whistleblower disclosures and support timely escalation and remediation. 


• Managing and enhancing whistleblower training, awareness and communication programs across ANZ. 


• Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including industry forums and subject matter experts. 


• Providing advice and support to Whistleblower Protection Officers and eligible recipients regarding the management of disclosures. 


• Driving continuous improvement of whistleblower practices through research, benchmarking and implementation of best practice approaches. 

What will you bring?

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as Law  


• Significant experience leading whistleblower, employee relations, investigations, conduct risk or related programs within a complex organisation. 


• Deep understanding of whistleblower legislation and governance requirements. 


• Strong knowledge of associated employment law, conduct risk and regulatory obligations in a regulated environment. 


• Demonstrated ability to assess and manage highly sensitive, complex and confidential matters involving significant legal, conduct, governance or reputational considerations. 


• Proven ability to engage, influence and advise senior executives and Board-level stakeholders. 


• Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to support, coach and influence others in sensitive and complex situations. 


• Excellent judgement, discretion and integrity when handling confidential matters. 


• Strong communication, stakeholder management and prioritisation skills. 


• A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to simplify processes and drive effective outcomes.
