Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of enterprise network architectures across multi site and hybrid cloud environments.
• Provide specialist expertise across routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, WAN, LAN, VPN, and SD WAN technologies.
• Support platform engineering initiatives including automation, network as code, and infrastructure modernisation.
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution across complex network and platform environments.
• Implement and maintain network security controls including segmentation, zero trust models, and secureaccess solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical design documents, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
• Lead major network changes, upgrades, migrations, and integration activities.
• Monitor network performance, analyse capacity, and ensure proactive tuning and optimisation.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, cloud, and platform engineering teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
• Contribute to incident, problem, and change management processes in accordance with ITIL frameworks.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering and operations teams.
• Ensure compliance with internal governance frameworks, audit requirements, and industry standards.
• Participate in vendor management, technology evaluations, and capability uplift initiatives.
Requirements
Required Skills and Experience
• Extensive experience as a senior network engineer in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of enterprise networking technologies including routing, switching, firewalls, SD‑WAN, VPN, and wireless.
• Experience designing and supporting hybrid network platforms across on‑premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Demonstrated expertise with enterprise firewalls and security appliances such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Check Point.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, segmentation, and secure architecture design.
• Experience with automation and scripting such as Python, Ansible, or infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Proven ability to lead major network projects, upgrades, and migrations.
• Experience working within ITIL‑based service management frameworks.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven experience working in enterprise, government, or regulated environments.
• Required Australian Citizenship and Mandatory AGSVA NV1 Clearance.
Desirable Skills
• Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or JNCIP.
• Experience with cloud networking and platform engineering services.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Splunk.
• Experience in government, defence, or critical infrastructure environments.
• Exposure to DevOps and platform automation practices.
