The Senior Network Engineer provides
advanced technical leadership across enterprise network platforms. The role
includes the design, implementation, optimisation, and support of complex
network infrastructures across hybrid environments including on‑premises,
cloud, and software‑defined networking solutions. The engineer ensures high
availability, resilience, security, and performance across enterprise network
services while contributing to platform uplift, automation, and operational
excellence.

Key
Responsibilities

•
Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of enterprise network
architectures across multi‑site and hybrid cloud environments.

•
Provide specialist expertise across routing, switching, firewalls, load
balancing, WAN, LAN, VPN, and SD‑WAN technologies.

•
Support platform engineering initiatives including automation, network‑as‑code,
and infrastructure modernisation.

•
Conduct advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution across complex network
and platform environments.

•
Implement and maintain network security controls including segmentation, zero‑trust
models, and secure access solutions.

•
Develop and maintain technical design documents, configuration standards, and
operational procedures.

•
Lead major network changes, upgrades, migrations, and integration activities.

•
Monitor network performance, analyse capacity, and ensure proactive tuning and
optimisation.

•
Collaborate with architecture, security, cloud, and platform engineering teams
to deliver secure and scalable solutions.

•
Contribute to incident, problem, and change management processes in accordance
with ITIL frameworks.

•
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering and
operations teams.

•
Ensure compliance with internal governance frameworks, audit requirements, and
industry standards.

•
Participate in vendor management, technology evaluations, and capability uplift
initiatives.

Required
Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience as a senior network engineer in complex enterprise
environments.

• Strong technical knowledge of enterprise networking technologies
including routing, switching, firewalls, SD‑WAN, VPN, and
wireless.

• Experience designing and supporting hybrid network platforms across on‑premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or
GCP).

• Demonstrated expertise with enterprise firewalls and security
appliances such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Check Point.

• Strong understanding of network security principles, segmentation, and
secure architecture design.

• Experience with automation and scripting such as Python, Ansible, or
infrastructure‑as‑code.

• Proven ability to lead major network projects, upgrades, and
migrations.

• Experience working within ITIL‑based service
management frameworks.

• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Proven experience working in enterprise, government, or regulated
environments.

• Required Australian Citizenship and Mandatory AGSVA NV1 Clearance.

Desirable
Skills

• Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or JNCIP.

• Experience with cloud networking and platform engineering services.

• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Splunk.

• Experience in government, defence, or critical infrastructure
environments.
