We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer who thrives on solving payroll puzzles, loves getting the details right and enjoys helping others grow. Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, you'll be one of our payroll experts, keeping things running smoothly while mentoring colleagues, improving processes and making payroll a seamless experience for our teams.

About the role

No two days are quite the same, but you'll spend your time:

• Running accurate weekly and fortnightly payrolls from start to finish
• Solving complex payroll queries before they become bigger problems
• Keeping payroll data, employee records and leave balances accurate and audit-ready
• Supporting and mentoring Payroll Officers, Practice Managers and stakeholders across the business
• Preparing statutory reporting, reconciliations and compliance submissions with confidence
• Becoming a go-to specialist across areas like Superannuation, Payroll Tax, Long Service Leave, STP/PAYG, KiwiSaver, Holidays Act, complex terminations or other specialist payroll functions
• Driving continuous improvement by identifying smarter, simpler ways to do things
• Supporting payroll governance, acquisitions and business projects as we continue to grow

About you

You're the person others turn to when payroll gets complicated.

You'll bring:

• 5+ years' experience managing high-volume payrolls across a multi-site business
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation
• Experience interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements and employment legislation
• Experience with Micropay and Humanforce (highly regarded)
• Outstanding attention to detail because the little things matter
• A calm, solutions-focused approach when handling complex payroll scenarios
• The confidence to build trusted relationships across Payroll, HR, Finance and Operations
• A passion for helping others, sharing knowledge and lifting team capability
• A mindset that looks for opportunities to improve processes, not just follow them
