Job Description - Senior People Officer

Description

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Senior People Officer, you'll be a trusted partner to leaders and employees, providing expert advice across people policies, processes, employment matters, and employee lifecycle activities. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver high-quality people services, support strategic initiatives, and drive continuous improvement across our People and Culture function.

You'll bring a strong customer focus, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate complex people matters with confidence. Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll help improve systems, processes, and service delivery while ensuring compliance, data quality, and positive employee experiences. You'll also support and mentor team members, helping foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence.

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract opportunity based in Brisbane.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

  • Provide expert advice and coaching to leaders and employees on people policies, processes, and employment matters.
  • Deliver accurate people administration, employment documentation, reporting, and payroll-related support.
  • Partner with stakeholders to provide people insights and support strategic people outcomes.
  • Lead the resolution of complex employee lifecycle matters and worklist items.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes, and service delivery.
  • Support compliance activities, risk management, and background screening processes.
  • Contribute to people projects, cyclical activities, and organisational initiatives.
  • Coach and support team members while promoting a collaborative and high-performing culture.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You hold tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline, or bring equivalent experience.
  • Your experience includes substantial HR operations, advisory, or employee relations support in a complex environment.
  • You'll have strong knowledge of HRIS, payroll, and recruitment systems, including reporting and analytics.
  • You're confident interpreting employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and workplace policies.
  • You demonstrate strong coaching and stakeholder management capabilities across all levels of an organisation.
  • Your analytical mindset enables you to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • You'll manage competing priorities effectively while maintaining attention to detail and discretion.
  • You're skilled at building trusted relationships and delivering positive customer experiences.
