Job Description - Senior Reporter

What's the role?

Are you ready to make headlines and craft stories that captivate millions? News Corp Australia’s The  Daily Telegraph is on the hunt for a dynamic and driven reporter who thrives on uncovering the untold  and delivering journalism that resonates in NSW and across Australia. This is your chance to join one  of the nation’s most influential teams and make your mark.

As a reporter, you’ll be at the forefront of breaking news, chasing down leads and uncovering exclusive angles that set the agenda and resonate with regional and metropolitan Australian audiences. You will work in Sydney and you’ll be the one everyone else follows, finding the stories no one else has and delivering content that sparks conversation and drives engagement across multiple  platforms.

Your day-to-day will be a fast-paced mix of sourcing, writing, and producing multiplatform journalism that millions across NSW will read, view, share, and talk about. You’ll use your networks to stay ahead of the curve, spotting trends and turning them into stories that matter. With an eye for analytics, you’ll follow up popular stories with fresh angles, ensuring your work continues to captivate audiences and deliver results.

This role isn’t just about reporting - it’s about creating journalism that stands out. You’ll pitch and deliver unique content that drives click-throughs and engagement, all while working in a collaborative and high-energy environment.

If you’re passionate about storytelling, relentless in your pursuit of the truth, and eager to make an impact, this is the role for you. Join us and be part of a team that shapes the news Australians care about.

Who are you?

  • Successful news reporter with at least five years of experience in a busy digital newsroom

  • Passionate about breaking stories and finding exclusive angles on the topics dominating the  national agenda

  • Highly motivated and full of ideas, with strong contacts that help you break yarns

  • Strong writing skills and an understanding of how to use headlines and pictures to hook readers. A desire to have your stories widely-read is a must

  • Sound working legal knowledge

  • Comfortable working independently and sourcing your own stories

  • An interest in engaging with and ‘owning’ the finance topics news.com.au readers love

  • Understand SEO and analytics
