Job Description - Speech Pathologist | Private Practice | Mixed caseload

Description

Speech Pathologist — Choose Your Caseload | Adelaide Private Practice

Permanent role with an established Adelaide private practice. The caseload is genuinely flexible — you'll build it in conversation with the clinical lead based on your clinical interests, experience and where you want your career to go next.

  • If you want paediatric: early language, school-age communication, literacy, articulation, social communication, feeding, AAC
  • If you want adult: post-stroke communication, cognitive-communication, voice, dysphagia (community-level), progressive neurological conditions, adult NDIS
  • If you want a mix: any blend of the above — the practice supports genuinely mixed caseloads rather than treating adult work as a paediatric SP's side gig
  • Blend of clinic-based sessions, school and community visits, in-home therapy and telehealth
  • Realistic caseload set with your clinical lead — not driven by billable-hour KPI
  • Full admin, scheduling and billing support so your day stays clinical
  • Structured supervision, peer case discussion and a genuine PD culture
  • Well-developed local MDT referrer network across both paediatric and adult streams

What's on offer:

  • Salary $80,000–$120,000 + super, benchmarked to experience (graduates through senior clinicians all considered)
  • Annual PD budget plus paid PD leave — including support for training that spans both ends of the caseload if that's where you want to grow
  • Laptop, phone, and reimbursed travel between sites
  • Genuine flexibility — 4-day weeks, school-hours arrangements, and hybrid clinic/telehealth setups all on the table
  • A clinical career pathway (senior, lead and specialty roles across both paediatric and adult streams)
  • Regular team case discussion, peer supervision and a real social calendar

Why this role, if you're already in Adelaide: Two groups of local SPs tend to find this role a good fit. The first are clinicians in paediatric-only roles who trained across the caseload and miss the adult work — the neuro rehab, the voice cases, the cognitive-communication sessions — and want a role where those aren't a memory from a university placement. The second are generalists who've never wanted to specialise, and are tired of being told they should. Either way, this practice supports the caseload shape rather than fighting it. If either of those descriptions lands, worth a conversation.

About you:

  • AHPRA registration as a Speech Pathologist (CPSP welcome; new graduates supported)
  • Australian work rights
  • Interest in paediatric, adult, or genuinely mixed caseload work
  • Comfortable across assessment and intervention
  • A current DHS Working with Children Check (WWCC) for South Australia — required if any paediatric work is included in your caseload
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
