Systems Administrator

The Redpath Group is a leading mining contractor with almost 10,000 employees on projects across the globe. We specialise in shaft sinking, mine development, contract mining, raiseboring, underground construction, engineering & technical services, and specialty services in the mining and construction sectors.

Position Description
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining, supporting, and improving Redpath's IT systems and infrastructure. Working closely with the Desktop Support team, this position acts as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues that cannot be resolved at the service desk level. The successful candidate will enjoy troubleshooting, investigating root causes, and implementing effective long-term solutions to system-related problems.
Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining IT infrastructure, responding to security and other critical incidents, resolving escalated technical issues, and providing advanced technical support across the business. While the role contributes to the implementation of new technologies and system improvements, its primary focus is on operational support, problem resolution, and ensuring the ongoing stability, security, and performance of Redpath's IT environment.
The role will work closely with our broader Technology team to support daily operations, manage escalated or overflow incidents, and contribute technical expertise across a variety of systems and platforms. There is also an expectation that the incumbent will proactively identify opportunities to enhance, optimise, and improve Redpath's IT systems, processes, and overall technology service delivery.

What You'll Be Doing
 

• Act as the escalation point for complex IT issues that cannot be resolved by the Desktop Support team.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose system, infrastructure, network, and application issues to identify and resolve root causes.
• Monitor, maintain, and improve Redpath's IT environment to ensure reliability, security, and performance.
• Administer and support local and global business systems, servers, and cloud-based platforms.
• Respond to critical incidents, security alerts, and system outages, minimising disruption to the business.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access across multiple systems and platforms.
• Collaborate with the broader Technology team on system upgrades, enhancements, and technology initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to automate, optimise, and continuously improve IT systems and processes.
• Work with vendors and technology partners to resolve technical issues and support business requirements.

What We're Looking For
 

• A hands-on IT professional who enjoys troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems.
• Experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, or a senior IT support role.
• Strong Microsoft technology skills across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Entra ID.
• Someone who enjoys getting to the root cause of issues rather than applying temporary fixes.
• Knowledge of networking and IT security fundamentals.
• The ability to work closely with our Desktop Support team and broader Technology team to resolve escalated issues and improve system performance.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for improving systems, processes, and end-user experience.
• Previous experience working within the mining, construction, engineering, or other industrial sectors will be highly regarded.
• Experience supporting a project-based business environment, where technology requirements change across multiple sites, projects, and stakeholders, will be highly regarded.
• Relevant Microsoft, Azure, or other industry certifications are desirable but not essential.
