The Role

We are currently seeking a Team Lead – Bridges & Structures (Associate Engineer) to join our team in Canberra. With proven experience managing a structural design team and delivering major transport infrastructure projects, you will play a key role in helping our Bridges & Structures team identify, win and deliver work to a consistently high standard of quality and timeliness, in line with the business plan.

With a minimum of 10 years’ commercial experience in bridge design and project management, you will contribute to expanding the team’s capability in the region and support business development activities within a leading multi‑disciplinary engineering consultancy.

Key accountabilities include:

• Providing structural design input across bridges, retaining walls and other transport structures
• Contributing to projects at a project management and/or technical review level to ensure reliable performance in terms of quality and programme
• Leading and managing the team to ensure optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development
• Growing the team through targeted client relationship management and business development activities
• Contributing to the group business plan and implementing the team’s components of that plan

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical credibility, leadership capability and a collaborative mindset. Suitable applicants will have:

• A Bachelor of Engineering (Structural Engineering or similar)
• A minimum of 10 years’ commercial structural design experience, with a strong focus on bridge design and the transport infrastructure market in NSW/Australia
• Demonstrated ability to deliver client terms of reference within budget and agreed timelines
• Proven project management experience across administrative, commercial and technical aspects
• Experience successfully delivering engineering projects valued at greater than $1 million
• Experience coordinating and delivering road & highways and rail & metro projects within multi‑disciplinary teams
• Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to produce reports requiring minimal correction and to provide final technical reviews
