Job Description - Team Leader - Supported Independent Living or Short Term Accommodation

Your role at St John of God Accord

We are seeking a motivated and values-driven Team Leader to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short-Term Accommodation (STA) services. This role is responsible for leading a team of Disability Support Workers to deliver high-quality, person-centred supports that enhance the independence, wellbeing, and quality of life of our clients.

As Team Leader, you will provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and mentoring to staff while ensuring services are delivered in line with organisational values, quality standards, and NDIS requirements. You will play a key role in supporting individualised care, coordinating service delivery, and maintaining a safe and compliant environment.

This role presents an opportunity to positively influence team culture. We are looking for a leader who can bring fresh direction, establish clear expectations, and build a supportive, accountable, and high-performing team environment, particularly within a service that has experienced ongoing challenges.

The Position

  • Provide effective leadership, mentoring and supervision of DSWs to assist the development and achievement of team and client goals.

  • Roster development, maintenance and review ensuring adherence to SJOGA guidelines, EBA, funding and legislation.

  • Active involvement in the implementation and review of person-centered plans (PCPs) as required, Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) in conjunction with clients and their circle of support and any other relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure all relevant records (including but not limited to) file notes, incident reports, OHS requirements, client and household finances and health management records are accurately maintained and updated either electronically or paper based (as required).

  • Manage the activities of the team including work allocation, rostering and resourcing of the house. Participation in and delivery of Accord’s Professional Development and Supervision (PDS) sessions with DSWs which includes the identification of skill gaps and learning & development requirements for direct reports and teams.

  • Oversee, mentor and support staff in the delivery of client programs and client support plans.

  • Actively monitor compliance, development and maintenance of Person Centered Plans (PCPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSP).

We are looking for a confident and capable professional who can build strong relationships with key stakeholders while effectively managing service performance and leading teams to success. You will bring demonstrated leadership experience, along with the initiative to think creatively and drive innovative approaches in service delivery.

Successful applicants must hold a Certificate IV or above in Disability studies or related discipline, valid NDIS Screening Clearance, drivers license, current working with children check and first aid certificate.

We can offer you

  • Salary: $88,387 to $95,096 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 12% Superannuation

  • Permanent part-time (x2) position available | 36 hours per week

  • North and East Melbourne locations
