Your Opportunity 


Due to strong growth and a robust pipeline of major projects, Mott MacDonald’s Aviation team is expanding, creating an opportunity for a Technical Director Aviation. You’ll join a high-performing, globally connected team delivering complex aviation infrastructure across international markets. With involvement in landmark developments at Sydney and Brisbane Airports, this role sits at the centre of high-impact, city-shaping work.


 


This is a pivotal, client-facing position focused on strategic client engagement and the delivery of major capital projects. Beyond technical leadership, the role offers the opportunity to influence growth, shape market strategy, and build enduring client partnerships across Australia and New Zealand. The successful candidate will play a key role in securing repeat work, driving sector growth, and strengthening Mott MacDonald’s position across major aviation programs.


 


Some of the key reponsibilities of the role include:



  • Supporting the development and delivery of the aviation strategy across Australia and New Zealand

  • Leading client engagement for key aviation clients, partnering with the Sub-Market Lead

  • Identifying priority pursuits and develop capture plans

  • Overseeing and lead major bids, ensuring compelling and competitive submissions

  • Acting as Project Principal on strategically significant projects

  • Collaborating across sectors to unlock aviation-related opportunities

  • Providing strategic and technical direction across aviation projects

  • Contributing as a subject matter expert where required

  • Building and engaging a strong aviation community through active industry presence

  • Collaborating with global aviation leadership to share knowledge and capability


 


About You  



  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related field for delivery of major infrastructure projects

  • Deep understanding of airport operations, both landside and airside, with a strong focus on passenger experience and maintaining service quality through construction staging

  • Demonstrable understanding of airport capital delivery

  • Deep understanding of the design process from business case to operational readiness

  • Experience in the management and delivery of capital infrastructure projects over $50m with major airports

  • Proven ability to build deep client relationships and secure repeat work
