THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our team as a Supporting Hand working across the South East Water (SEW) network based in Dandenong South, VIC. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the water industry while contributing to the delivery of essential services for the community.

Working alongside experienced crews, you'll support the maintenance and repair of critical water network assets, helping to keep services running safely and efficiently. This role operates within a 24/7 reactive maintenance contract, requiring participation in day shift, afternoon shift and on-call rosters.

No two days are the same. A typical day starts with a pre-start meeting and vehicle checks before heading out to sites across the network. You'll assist with responding to water main bursts, leaks, customer faults and planned maintenance works, while operating plant and equipment, maintaining safe work sites and completing electronic job records.

This role requires flexibility to participate in rotating shifts and an on-call roster to support emergency response and after-hours maintenance activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform reactive and planned maintenance on South East Water assets. 
• Assist with repairs to water mains, services, valves and hydrants. 
• Respond to emergency and reactive maintenance works across the network. 
• Carry out excavation, reinstatement and site restoration activities. 
• Safely operate plant, tools and equipment. 
• Accurately record job information, photos and completed works electronically. 
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance. 
• Work collaboratively with crews to meet customer and contractual requirements.

ABOUT YOU

• Experience in sewer maintenance, blockage response and sewer cleaning operations. 

• Skilled in operating high-pressure jetting equipment, vacuum systems and combination jet/vacuum trucks. 

• Experience with NDD, hydro excavation, wet well cleaning, PCB cleaning and confined space work is highly regarded. 

• Strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance and quality outcomes.

• Reliable team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to identify asset defects, complete accurate documentation and work independently in the field. 

• Flexible to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays and participate in an on-call roster.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CHECKS

• Current Driver's Licence (MR/HR Licence highly regarded)
• White Card
• First Aid Certificate 
• Working at Heights Certificate (Desirable)
• Confined Space Certificate (Desirable)
• High Pressure Water Jetting Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Hold full working rights in Australia
• Complete a pre-employment medical, Driver Licence and Working with Children Check
