Join Our Team as a Tidy Towns General Hand at the Shire of Toodyay!

The Shire is seeking a Gardener to join our Parks and Gardens division. Once awarded a Tidy Towns winner, we are seeking the skill and attention of a Gardener, to help us achieve this award once more.

The Shire of Toodyay is a beautiful semi-rural Shire on the Avon River in the Central Wheatbelt just outside of the metro region and 45 minutes from Midland. The Shire has experienced strong growth and development over the recent years with a thriving CBD, and active, engaged community.

What You'll Do: 

• Ensure Stirling Terrace is looking fabulous.
• Carry out routine maintenance within our townsite and surrounds, Council parks and gardens.
• Assist with installation of new lawns and gardens within the town site and surrounding areas.
• Carry out minor tree pruning, and other activities associated with clearing and maintaining of street verge vegetation. 
• Required to assist with the collection of street rubbish. 
• Required to assist with the control of weeds and other unwanted plant species including application of chemical or herbicide treatments. 

What You’ll Bring:

• Knowledge and experience of operating machinery to maintain gardens and footpaths.
• Working knowledge of Work Health and Safety.
• Passion to maintain the beautiful townsite.
• Knowledge and practical experience in using and maintaining hand and power tools. 
• Friendly and warm manner and ability to liaise with community groups during work

Selection Criteria

Essential

• Hold a minimum C Class driver’s licence.
• National Police Clearance.
• Pre-employment medical.

Desirable

• Previous experience as a gardener
• Previous experience in Local Government
