Excitingly, the pet industry is booming (as in $15 billion kind of booming) and online pet retail is set to grow exponentially in the next five years. So this is a unique career opportunity to be part of our epic growth story.

The Opportunity

Since its founding in 2011, Pet Circle has captured 50% of Australia's online pet market. We see an opportunity to build a unique specialty retail business by offering tailored products, advice, and services that consider both pets and their owners' needs. With over 1 million customers and substantial GMV, our goal is to evolve Pet Circle into a trusted companion for pet parents throughout their journey.

As VP of Product, you'll partner with our co-founder and CEO to lead our product vision, creating and executing differentiated strategies. You'll manage a team of product managers, designers, and data analysts, fostering innovation while delivering outstanding customer solutions. You'll also work closely with the executive team and board to shape our future. We're seeking a hands-on, visionary leader with strong analytical skills to inspire teams, create exceptional customer experiences, and set new global retail standards. You’ll lead a team of 7-10 in a flat structure, reporting to the CTO.

• Own Pet Circle’s digital product experience, providing leadership across the organisation as the custodian of our product vision.
• Leading the creation of our product strategies, laying out the paths for the implementation of our vision. Operate with a lean team in a flat organisational structure, and able to be as hand-on in our Product Development processes as necessary.
• Build a deep understanding of our customers, products and industry, continuously interacting with customers, enabling you to be a thought leader at Pet Circle.
• Role-model solving problems in a way customers love, ensuring that these solutions are both valuable to customers and viable to the business.

• Shape our Product culture, obsessing about the customer experience and driving frequent iterations and improvements, taking risks, cherishing learning opportunities.
• Become an expert in our business, with knowledge and awareness of all influencing factors and constraints, be it veterinarian, commercial, operational, legal or other.

• Overseeing your team’s execution work across product planning, discovery and delivery, achieving extraordinary outcomes consistently, rapidly, and effectively.
• Coach and develop your team to empower them to perform at their best. Our team is our biggest asset - so your role in enabling them to be high performing is pivotal. You’ll lead with context, humility and curiosity, share candid feedback often, and drive accountability at all levels. 
• Driving clear prioritisation for your team, remove roadblocks and influence the prioritisation of other teams to ensure business objectives are met

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science or another STEM discipline showing the ability to deeply understand complex technical concepts.
• Proven people and team leadership experience, recognised as an attractor and developer of world-class talent. You’re also adept at driving outcomes with lean teams and are resourceful in the way you approach business challenges.
• Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.
• Extensive experience working on technology-powered products as either a product manager, product designer, engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or user researcher. 
• Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.
• Experience considering both customer needs and commercial realities in order to drive meaningful product growth.
• Strong analytical skills and capacity to thrive in data driven environments, moving from ideas to reality in very short periods of time.
• Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship.
