Ready to take the next step in your water industry career? Due to continued investment in our Water and Wastewater Operations team, we're excited to offer three Team Leader opportunities, including two newly created roles, providing a fantastic opportunity to grow your leadership career with Council.

As a Water Industry Worker Team Leader, you'll combine your technical expertise with hands-on leadership, guiding a skilled field crew to deliver essential services that keep our community running. From reactive maintenance and network repairs to non-routine construction and property connections, you'll play a key role in maintaining critical water and wastewater infrastructure across Redland City.

This is more than just a leadership role. It's an opportunity to help shape a growing team, mentor staff, and contribute to the continued improvement of our services while remaining actively involved in field operations.

You'll be responsible for leading safe and efficient work practices, supporting your team's development, and ensuring high-quality outcomes for the community. In return, we'll invest in your future through ongoing training, professional development, and pathways to gain further industry qualifications and build a long-term career with Council.

We're particularly interested in people with strong practical experience in the water industry. While a Certificate IV is highly regarded, we welcome applications from experienced industry professionals who are keen to further develop their leadership capabilities and complete formal qualifications as part of the role.

  • Promoting and maintaining a strong safety-first culture across all activities

  • Providing technical guidance and hands-on problem-solving support in the field

  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in work methods and processes

  • Maintaining accurate records, including job costing, reporting, and system updates

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers and stakeholders through clear and professional communication

Skills and experience:

  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support a field-based work crew

  • Experience delivering water/wastewater maintenance and construction services

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including training, motivation, and conflict resolution

  • Physical capability to perform a wide range of manual and labouring tasks

  • Solid knowledge of WHS regulations and commitment to safety leadership

  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to negotiate and resolve issues

  • Confidence making decisions in complex operational environments

  • Strong administrative, record-keeping, and communication skills
