Windows SOE | MECM | SCCM | Intune | Autopilot |Group Policy | Microsoft 365 services.The Windows SOE Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Client's Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and endpoint management platforms. The role ensures secure, reliable and scalable desktop services that support teaching, research and administrative operations across the business. Job overview: Working collaboratively with colleagues across eSolutions and project delivery teams, the position contributes to large-scale endpoint deployment, migration and modern workplace initiatives. The role supports the adoption of contemporary endpoint management, automation and AI-enabled operational practices to improve service quality, operational efficiency and user experience outcomes.The position provides specialist technical expertise across Windows endpoint technologies, software packaging, device management, security compliance and deployment automation. Success in this role requires strong technical capability, analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver complex outcomes within enterprise environments while maintaining alignment with University standards and operational requirements.
Key responsibilities:
Design, implement, maintain and continuously improve the Client's Windows SOE environment, ensuring endpoint services remain secure, reliable, scalable and aligned with operational and security standards.
Support large-scale endpoint deployment, migration and refresh initiatives across the client, ensuring timely delivery of project outcomes and minimal disruption to business operations.
Develop, maintain and optimise endpoint management solutions including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Intune, Autopilot, Group Policy and associated management platforms.
Deliver software packaging, application deployment and patch management services, ensuring applications and operating systems remain compliant, supported and secure.
Develop and maintain automation, scripting and AI-enabled operational practices to improve deployment efficiency, reduce manual effort and strengthen endpoint management capabilities.
Monitor and troubleshoot endpoint infrastructure, analyse incidents and performance issues, and implement sustainable remediation strategies to improve service reliability and user experience outcomes.
Required skills / Experience:
Demonstrated experience engineering and supporting enterprise Windows SOE and endpoint management environments within large and complex organisations.
Strong technical experience with Microsoft endpoint technologies including Windows 11, MECM/SCCM, Intune, Autopilot, Group Policy and Microsoft 365 services.
Experience delivering large-scale endpoint deployment, migration and refresh activities within enterprise environments.Supporting secure and compliant endpoint management practices.
Demonstrated capability developing automation and scripting solutions using technologies such as PowerShell to improve operational efficiency and service reliability.
Knowledge of endpoint security, compliance and patch management practices, including modern device management and Zero Trust principles.
