Apprentice High Voltage Electrician | Dawson

Dawson Mine is seeking motivated and safety-focused individuals to join our team as Apprentice High Voltage Electrician. This is an exciting opportunity for Moura and Banana Shire residents to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience maintaining and repairing some of the largest and most advanced mining equipment in Australia.

During this 4-year apprenticeship, you’ll be working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will complete a nationally recognised qualification while developing the skills needed for a rewarding career in the mining industry.

As a Apprentice High Voltage Electrician, you will:

• Assist with the maintenance and repair of high voltage electrical equipment and systems.
• Support fault finding and troubleshooting activities.
• Participate in planned and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Learn and apply safe work practices and procedures.
• Complete all apprenticeship training requirements and assessments.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Contribute to a positive safety culture and team environment.

• Successful completion of Year 12 (or equivalent)
• Sound achievement in Mathematics and English
• Genuine interest in pursuing a career as an Electrical Tradesperson specialising in High Voltage systems
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Current Australian driver's licence (or ability to obtain during the apprenticeship)

Desirable

• Certificate II in Electrotechnology (UEE22020) or equivalent pre-apprenticeship qualification
• Previous exposure to electrical, mining, industrial, or construction environments
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Working at Heights or Confined Space training
• Demonstrated mechanical or technical aptitude through employment, study, hobbies, or extracurricular activities

• Employed under the Dawson Collective Enterprise Agreement 2024
• 4-year apprenticeship program combining TAFE study and practical experience
• Training, upskilling & career progression
• Walk away with a recognised Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship
