The Opportunity
Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is seeking applications for an Electrical Apprenticeship opportunity. This is an exciting opportunity to launch your career in the power and utilities industry while gaining hands-on experience working on critical high-voltage electrical infrastructure. 

Under the guidance of qualified tradespeople and experienced technicians, you’ll assist with the construction, installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of substations and associated equipment. As part of your structured apprenticeship, you’ll gain exposure to transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection systems, and commissioning activities, while developing valuable skills in fault finding, interpreting electrical drawings, using testing equipment, and working safely within live electrical environments. Through a combination of formal training and on-the-job learning, you’ll build the technical knowledge and practical experience required for a rewarding career in the electrical industry

About You

• Drivers Licence
• Provide First Aid, CPR, and White Card – Highly regarded
• Completed Year 10 or higher (Year 12 preferred) with Pass marks in Maths & English
• Comfortable working outdoors and in technical environments like substations
• Committed to working safely and responsibly in high-risk electrical areas
