Intern (Ops & Customer Care)

Job Description - Intern (Ops & Customer Care)

About Kantoko

Over 1 million adults in Australia have ADHD. Most have had to fit themselves into a broken system: long waitlists, disconnected providers, high costs, and support that drops off after they get a diagnosis.

Kantoko is building something different.

We've designed ADHD care around how people actually live, work and think. One connected care team, ongoing support, and care that adapts as life changes. Making it easier to access, easier to navigate, and easier to stick with.

With a recent seed funding round shared by Forbes Australia, we’re growing fast and heading straight into a big few months of exciting new projects. We need an extra pair of hands to help us pull it off, and we want that person to get something real out of it too.

About the Role

This isn't a "shadow the team and take notes" internship. Working in between our Ops and Customer Care teams, you'll be in the mix from day one, working directly alongside our founding team on the stuff that actually keeps Kantoko running.

Some weeks that'll look like helping patients get scheduled and seen. Other weeks it might be untangling an HR/payroll task, chasing down referrals, clearing the inbox, or getting pulled into an ops project that needs an extra set of hands to hit a deadline.

It's varied, it's hands-on, and you'll see how a fast-growing healthcare startup actually operates — not from the sidelines, but from inside the room.

What you'll get stuck into:

  • Scheduling patients and helping keep our clinical calendar running smoothly

  • Supporting HR and payroll admin

  • Getting involved in ops projects as we scale

  • Managing referrals and our inbound inbox

  • Whatever else comes up — this role will flex as our priorities do

About You

You want to learn by doing, not sit on the sidelines. You're organised, can juggle a few moving pieces at once, and can be trusted to handle tasks to a high standard once given to you.

You care about doing things properly, especially when it comes to people’s health information. And you're genuinely curious about how an early-stage healthcare startup runs day to day, keen to learn that straight from the people building it.

No prior healthcare or ops experience needed — just reliability, a good attitude, and a willingness to pitch in wherever we need you.

This role is great for someone studying, in between things, or simply looking for a few days a week to work in an exciting startup.

Why work at Kantoko?

  • Learn directly from the founding team — we're a small team post-seed-funding, heading into our next stage of growth, and you'll be working alongside us, not several layers removed.

  • Real experience, real impact — no busywork for the sake of it. What you do will actually matter to how the team operates.

  • Work that matters — you'll see how the work you do changes people's everyday lives.

  • Bring your whole self to work — one of our team values is to Embrace the Purple. We're building a workplace where neurodivergent minds, queer individuals, and all kinds of humans are not only safe, but empowered to do their best work.

  • Flexible casual hours — 2–3 days a week, based in our Surry Hills office (near Central Station), for up to 3 months.
