About the placement
This is a structured, learning-focused student placement designed to help an enrolled student apply course knowledge in a supervised professional environment. The placement is intended only for students whose university, TAFE or authorised training provider confirms that the placement is an approved requirement or component of their course.
This placement is unpaid. A modest expense allowance will be offered at HashTech Group's discretion to assist with approved travel and placement-related costs. The allowance is not payment for productive output, and the final arrangements will be documented with the student and education provider before commencement.
Learning opportunities
Shadow experienced professionals working across IT consulting, cloud infrastructure, data centres, broadband, voice and AI-enabled operations.
Participate in guided demonstrations, training exercises, workshops and non-production lab activities.
Learn how technical teams document systems, troubleshoot issues, manage service quality and communicate with clients.
Assist with supervised research, learning summaries and internal training documentation.
Observe project planning, governance, security, compliance and cost-optimisation practices.
Receive regular mentoring, feedback and structured learning reviews.
Placement safeguards
The student will not replace a paid employee or be responsible for business-critical or client-billable work.
Activities will primarily involve observation, training and skill development under direct supervision.
Hours will be flexible and agreed with the student and education provider.
The student must receive the main benefit from the arrangement.
HashTech Group will confirm the placement structure with the relevant education or training provider before commencement.
If the arrangement does not qualify as a lawful vocational placement, it will not proceed on an unpaid basis.
Who should apply
A current student in information technology, computer science, telecommunications, networking, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, data, AI or a related discipline.
Able to provide written confirmation that the placement is an approved course requirement or component.
Interested in learning about enterprise technology and telecommunications.
Strong communication, curiosity, reliability and willingness to learn.
Able to follow confidentiality, privacy, safety and information-security requirements.
Location and arrangement
The placement is based in Melbourne with supervised hybrid participation where appropriate. Timing, duration and attendance will be agreed with the education provider and selected student.
